Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Dew Geyser, a made-to-measure lace lingerie atelier at 1-14-19 Shimojima, Nankoku, Kochi 783-0095, Japan, handles personal information gathered through this website and through the commissions that begin here. We follow Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). The person responsible for the business is named to anyone who asks in writing, using the contact details at the end of this page.

The site is small on purpose: a handful of pages, a journal and one enquiry form. There is no shop basket, no customer account and no login, so nearly everything we hold about you reaches us because you chose to write to us.

02

What we collect

Through the enquiry form we receive your name, your email address, a phone number if you choose to add one, and whatever you write in the message. If you go on to commission a piece we also need a delivery name and address, the body measurements from our guide (bust, underbust, waist, hip, torso length, shoulder width and two cup measurements), your lace and design choices, and a record of each bank transfer, meaning its date and amount. If you ask for a lace sample card, we need the postal address it should be sent to.

Measurements are personal even though the APPI does not class them as sensitive, so we keep them under the same restrictions as your contact details. We never ask for card numbers. Payment is by bank transfer only, so please do not type payment details into the form or an email.

03

How we use it

We use what you send for a short list of purposes: replying to your enquiry, preparing a written quote and agreement, drawing and cutting your pattern, sewing the piece, posting guides, sample cards and finished garments, carrying out the round of adjustments that comes with every order, and keeping the accounts and tax records the law requires. We also use it to answer any question you raise about this policy.

We do not use it for advertising, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not send newsletters. If we ever wanted to use your information for something new, we would ask you first and wait for your answer.

04

Cookies and tracking

These pages carry no analytics, no advertising scripts and no tracking cookies. Fonts and images are served from this site's own files, so opening a page does not tell a font or image provider that you visited. The notice at the bottom of the page stores one small cookie, named arvq, that holds only the time you closed the notice. It lasts roughly ten months and contains no name, address or identifier. Delete it and the notice simply appears again on your next visit.

Like any web server, the one hosting these pages may keep routine access logs, such as the time of a request and the page asked for. We do not read those logs for marketing and we do not link them to enquiries.

05

How the enquiry form works

The form does not store anything on this site. When you press the send button it opens your own email program with the message already written and addressed to info@dewgeyser.com. Nothing is sent until you press Send there. That means your message passes through your email provider and ours, and a copy stays in both mailboxes.

If you would rather not use the form, write to the same address directly or telephone us on +81 88-469-2192. For anything you would rather not put in an email, such as a delivery address for a gift, a call is a sensible alternative.

06

Gift orders

When you order a piece for someone else, you give us the recipient's name and postal address. We use them only to post the measurement guide and the finished piece, and we hold them under the same limits as everything else here. The measurements have to come from the recipient, so we will be in touch with them directly once the guide has arrived. Please let the recipient know before you place the order.

07

Sharing with others

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We pass on only what a task needs: your name, address and phone number to the courier or Japan Post when we ship a parcel, and transfer records to our bank when a payment is reconciled. Our email and hosting providers handle data on our behalf under their own terms, and accountants or tax authorities may see payment records where the law requires it.

We disclose information without your consent only where the law demands it, or where it is needed to protect someone's life, body or property and your consent cannot reasonably be obtained. Some email and hosting services keep data on servers outside Japan. When we pick such a service we check how it protects data, and you may ask us which services we use at any time.

08

How long we keep it

Enquiries that never become a commission are deleted up to three years after the last message. Order files, which hold measurements, pattern notes and correspondence, are kept for three years after your last order so that a repeat commission can start from your existing pattern, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. A delivery address given only for a sample card is removed once the card has arrived or the conversation has ended.

Payment and accounting records stay for as long as Japanese tax and commercial law require, and are deleted afterwards.

09

Keeping it safe

Enquiries and order files live in a password-protected mailbox and on the devices used in the atelier, and only the people who work on your commission can open them. Email is not perfectly private in transit, which is one more reason to keep sensitive details out of it. If we learn that your information has been exposed, we will tell you promptly and say what we are doing about it.

10

Your rights

Under the APPI you may ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to stop using it, or to stop passing it to others. Write to info@dewgeyser.com from the address you used before, and tell us which information you mean so that we can check the request really comes from you. We answer without undue delay and we do not charge for these requests.

If you are unhappy with our answer, you may also contact Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission, which handles complaints about how businesses use personal information.

11

Visitors under 18

The site is meant for adults placing an order. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to write to us for you. If we find that we have received information from a child without a parent's agreement, we delete it.

12

Changes to this policy

When we change how we handle information, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use details you have already given us, we write to you at the address you used.
